Students at Darmstadt University Of Applied Sciences are to subscribe curses through a very antique internet portal called qis, which stands for "quality information system". A funny name for a web application, that intransparent and confusing.
User Research showed, that the main use cases of QIS are to see if the newest marks are online an visible for the students to see, if they passed exams and how many cerdit points are missing for the semester.
To appeal to students and make the main use-cases possible on the phone a mobile first application approach is absolutely inevidable.
After the splash screen users are confronted with the main information they need from the app. Banners advertise current events at and around the campus. A central search field makes finding what is needed easier than ever.
To get as close as possible to a real application, all screens needed to be defined and wireframed in order to let users test the application and see, if elements are at the right place.
